2011 Ford Explorer coming to Ford of Ocala this winter

Leading Florida dealer Ford of Ocala is getting ready for the launch of the new 2011 Ford Explorer. While continuing its proud 20-year legacy as Ford's mainstream family SUV, the new Explorer has undergone marked changes that make it even better suited to its purpose.

The 2011 Explorer is new down to the core, sitting on a wholly different platform underneath, and now built with unibody construction methods. The result is a lighter body, greater agility, and a more car-like driving feel. The Explorer also inherits a fresh pair of engines -- a 3.5-liter V6 whose 290 horsepower can outaccelerate any Explorer from years past, and a turbocharged 4-cylinder that's expected to make the Explorer the most fuel-efficient SUV in its class. The switch from rear- to front-wheel-drive aids efficiency and traction alike, while the optional new all-wheel-drive system employs a user-friendly Terrain Management system, giving the choice of four intuitive settings (Normal, Sand, Mud, Snow) that relieve the driver of distractions.

Thanks to its enlarged body, the Explorer's cabin now treats all six (or seven) of its passengers to a wealth of space and comfort. A high-tech dash features jazzed-up lighting and a standard LCD screen. Finally, the Explorer has an outstanding arsenal of safety features. In addition to AdvanceTrac and Roll Stability Control, there's a Curve Control system that brakes in case a driver takes a corner too fast, and an optional Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with cross-traffic alert to make backing up more secure. Should the worst occur, the Explorer also has an SOS Post-Crash Alert system, curtain side airbags, a child-sensing front airbag, and inflatable rear seatbelts that help distribute crash energy more evenly throughout the body.

Right around New Year's, the safer, faster, friendier, and more frugal 2011 Explorer will be landing at Ford of Ocala, your best resource for new and used Fords in northern Florida.
