Ford Reveals "Next-Generation" Technologies For Safe Driving

New driver-assist features makes it easier for you to drive and park safely. These new systems are part of Ford's commitment to increase their investment in driver-assist technologies to make driving safer for you. Many of these technologies help you steer around slow or stopping vehicles in an emergency and warn you if you are going in the wrong direction during traffic. These safety technologies are for a stress-free drive whenever you are on the road. The road can be scary and unexpected sometimes but Ford's commitment is to keep you more aware of your surroundings!

One technology that Ford is developing is its Cross-Traffic alert with braking technology. It is designed to reduce stress during parking by sensing people and objects that are about to pass behind your vehicle, providing warning signals and automatic braking if you do not respond. It also features a rear wide view camera, on the in-car display to give you an alternative view to help you back out. Ford will also be initiating enhanced active park assist to help you parallel and perpendicular park at the touch of a button.

One of Ford's latest technologies is it's Evasive steering assist. These include systems that steer around other cars to help avoid high-speed collisions. Designed for driving on the highway and in cities, it uses a radar and a camera to spot slower moving vehicles or vehicles that have stopped ahead to provide steer support if a collision is anticipated.

Other technologies that are in the process of being developed include spot-lighting technology; which uses an infrared camera to help detect pedestrians, bicyclists, and animals, an advanced front lighting system, and Traffic Jam Assist.

Driver-assist technologies that are already in Ford's portfolio include:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Forward collision warning with brake support
  • Driver alert
  • Lane departure warning with lane-keeping assist
  • Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert
  • Active park assist
  • Automatic high-beam control
  • Hill start assist
  • Curve Control
